TC ATEX D SMART - digital temperature regulator

1. Use

Digital temperature regulator type TC ATEX D ... is designed to control internal temperature in electrically heated protection enclosures and shelters for control valves, measuring devices and the like in potentially explosive atmospheres.

It can be connected to the following items:

  • Heaters type INTERTEC CP ... THERM
  •  All explosion-proof electrical heaters
  •  Heating cables in conjunction with temperature sensor and TAES limiter

Temperature regulator TC ATEX D is particularly suited for sophisticated heating in potentially explosive environments and is specially designed for maintenance of analysers at high-temperature .

2. Parameters

  • The longest life of the controller is reached if solid elements are used. The calculated error probability for continuous 10-year operation is less than 5%
  • The RS 485 interface allows network connection and parameter setting on the PC via the Modbus RTU protocol.
  • Storage and operating temperature ranging from -50 ° C up to + 80 ° C
  • Extensive fault control
  • Displays the external state using the green / red LEDs.
  • Desired value can be set without PC

3. Description

Digital temperature regulator TC ATEX D consists of an electronic part with a microprocessor, completely encapsulated in silicone and Ex e terminal. The required temperature can be set at any time.
If the INTERTEC CP ... THERM HI heater is connected, its surface temperature will be redundantly limited by both electronic and safety fuses directly at the heat source. This patented concept ensures very safe operation while ensuring a high level of explosion protection.
Its three analogue inputs can be used as a real values transmitter for the controller.
The KTY external temperature sensor can accurately measure and control the temperature of the instruments or devices.

  • The internal temperature sensor monitors the temperature of the controller in the housing
  • The NTC sensor on the heating coil limits the heater temperature electronically
  • All values can be displayed and recorded using the Intertec Smart Heater software

The control uses group phase control without voltage switching to minimize power fluctuations.
In expanded mode, the control unit can serve as a temperature monitor with an adjustable process temperature limiter.

7. Temperature

Please note that at high temperatures the controller can not be used at full power. Regulator can be
mounted outside the heated cabinet, see 7.1.

7.1 At temperatures below -12°C, the controller switches to "cold start mode", meaning the output switches to 100% power until the PCB temperature reaches -5°C. In very cold climatic conditions In very cold climatic conditions it should be ensured that the connected heater heats the regulator as well. If a continuous operating temperature above -12 ° C can not be guaranteed, the controller must be heated separately.

"SMART HEATER software package", which is supplied separately consists of:
• Interface converter from USB to RS485
• CD-ROM with software.

On the PC, the current status and values can be displayed from the TC ATEX D thermostat and some parameters can be changed:
Up to 31 TC D controllers can be connected to the RS485 interface. All regulators can be controlled and monitored from the computer.
